APPLICATION OF AN ENGINEERINGINVISCID - BOUNDARY LAYER METHODTO SLENDER THREE - DIMENSIONAL VEHICLE FOREBODIESChristopher

چکیده
An engineering inviscid-boundary layer method has been modiied for application to slender three-dimensional (3-D) forebodies which are characteristic of transatmospheric vehicles. An improved shock description in the nose region has been added to the inviscid technique which allows the calculation of a wider range of body geometries. The modiied engineering method is applied to the perfect gas solution over a slender 3-D con-guration at angle of attack. The method predicts surface pressures and laminar heating rates on the windward side of the vehicle that compare favorably with numerical solutions of the thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations. These improvements extend the 3-D capabilities of the engineering method and signiicantly increase its design applications. unit vectors of shock-oriented coordinate system L reference length M Mach number n coordinate normal to shock p pressure q heat transfer rate s distance V velocity magnitude

متن کاملConjugate Heat Transfer of MHD non-Darcy Mixed Convection Flow of a Nanofluid over a Vertical Slender Hollow Cylinder Embedded in Porous Media
In this paper, conjugate heat transfer of magneto hydrodynamic mixed convection of nanofluid about a vertical slender hollow cylinder embedded in a porous medium with high porosity have been numerically studied. The Forchheimer’s modification of Darcy’s law was used in representing the nanofluid motion inside the porous media. The governing boundary layer equations were transformed to non-dimen...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer of a Dusty Fluid Towards a Stretching Sheet with Convective Boundary Conditions
The steady three-dimensional boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid towards a stretching sheet with convective boundary conditions is investigated by using similarity solution approach. The free stream along z-direction impinges on the stretching sheet to produce a flow with different velocity components. The governing equations are reduced into ordinary differential equations b...
متن کاملDouble Layer Magnet Design Technique for Cogging Torque Reduction of Dual Rotor Single Stator Axial Flux Brushless DC Motor
Cogging torque is the major limitation of axial flux permanent magnet motors. The reduction of cogging torque during the design process is highly desirable to enhance the overall performance of axial flux permanent magnet motors. This paper presents a double-layer magnet design technique for cogging torque reduction of axial flux permanent magnet motor. Initially, 250 W, 150 rpm axial flux brus...
متن کاملAnalytic Solution for Hypersonic Flow Past a Slender Elliptic Cone Using Second-Order Perturbation Approximations
An approximate analytical solution is obtained for hypersonic flow past a slender elliptic cone using second-order perturbation techniques in spherical coordinate systems. The analysis is based on perturbations of hypersonic flow past a circular cone aligned with the free stream, the perturbations stemming from the small cross-section eccentricity. By means of hypersonic approximations for the ...
